Larp 101: The World » the Disciplines

Disciplines are the supernatural powers possessed by vampires in story and legend.  Generally, most powers ascribed to vampires exist somewhere among the Kindred, but only a very powerful vampire could come close to possessing them all.

Each clan has an affinity for a set of Disciplines that they learn more easily (listed above).  The following Disciplines represent the abilities commonly found among the clans of the Camarilla:

  • Animalism.  Affinity for the bestial, both literal animals and the metaphorical vampiric Beast.
  • Auspex.  Heightened perception, which begins with enhanced senses and extends to extrasensory perception.
  • Celerity. Speed far beyond the ability of mortals.
  • Dementation.  The ability to evoke madness in the mind.
  • Dominate. Control of the will and minds of others.
  • Fortitude. Extraordinary physical resilience.
  • Obfuscate.  The ability to disappear or change one’s appearance by clouding the perceptions of others.
  • Potence. Superhuman feats of strength.
  • Presence. The ability to manipulate others through overwhelming social manipulation.
  • Protean. Reshaping the body to grow claws or take other forms.
  • Thaumaturgy. The blood magic of the Tremere, with powers ranging from control of blood to weather to fire.
